ASIS Leadership Team Update
Over the past year, we have talked to many of you one on one, some via email, some in person or through our various Zoom meetings. We have heard the message loud and clear.
You expect more from ASIS Denver!
You expect better content. Better speakers, More opportunities for networking. Efforts towards diversity & inclusion. Meetings in a variety of locations at various times. Better avenues for training and education, learning, sharing and collaboration.
Over the past year, we have made significant growth in all these areas, despite the pandemic. Being a volunteer board, we try to do what we can with the time we have available, listen to our membership and try to improve.
But we can't make you attend a meeting. We can't make you get involved. We can't make you post on LinkedIn what a great meeting it was. We can't make you share an upcoming event on social media. We can't make you invite a colleague, friend or family member to a webinar. We can't make you join ASIS International.
ASIS Denver Mile Hi expects more from you!
But we expect you to be better this year with us. We expect you to get involved, be engaged, ask questions. We expect our membership to attend the webinars, share them, push them and promote them. We expect you to do what we do, try to make this chapter better. We invite volunteers to our committees. We invite you to invite others. Often what we talk about is appropriate for safety, HR or your security officers on staff. Help them attend, see the value.
We can better this year -- Together -- We expect nothing less than the best!
If you would like to volunteer, or if you have ideas for speakers, or if feel a conversation needs to be had, please reach out to [email protected] We are constantly looking for great presenters, sponsors, those that want to be engaged in golfing or the clay shoot – We need you!

General Meeting Recap
February Joint Meeting with IAHSS
In an effort to partner with other security organizations in the Denver Metro Area, Our very own ASIS Denver Board Member Keith McGlen from UCHealth, Eric Smith from Denver Health and Tony York from Paladin Security took part in a fascinating panel discussion keying on the future of security in healthcare.
As we strive to bring you better content on our website – we will be recapping the meetings and events under “Resources” on our web page. If you have questions or would like to follow up from a presentation, please visit the page. HUGE NEWS! This is BIG!!! MUST READ!
The Denver Mile Hi Chapter of ASIS has been awarded a Foundation Grant to help us kick start our local chapter study groups for both the PSP and CPP. Ideally, we will be kicking off the PSP Study group in April 2021 and the CPP Study Group in August 2021.
If you have been thinking about getting your certification – or trying to study by yourself… Now is the time to join a group and jump start your studying. If you are interested in joining either of these study groups, please send a note to [email protected]. More details will be coming soon (we just won the grant!)
The Governmental Affairs and Legislative Committee is off to a great start with our 2021 actions. Of note, some of the key elements that we are specifically tracking and would really like to get your support:
- State of Colorado --- Concerning the Licensure of Persons in the Business of Providing Private Guard Services
- This is currently under review to develop licensing of Security Guards from a state-wide aspect in Colorado
- Our committee and networks are currently reviewing this legislation
- On the surface this greatly goes beyond “basic” licensing to include rigorous requirement for Armed Private Guards and Unarmed Guards as well
- Development of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with other organizations to see how we can leverage relationships to expand the impact and have ASIS Denver Chapter as a known source in the areas of Governmental and Legislative arenas
- Begin the research into developing a Political Action Committee for our Chapter (PAC)
- Development of a 2022 “Security Day at the Capitol” and other forms of outreach to help our various State and Local entities get to know our security professionals within Colorado
We hope that you can join us as we begin to move forward on these and other actions during the 2021 and beyond. Any questions, please reach out to Lisa Buckley 303-591-3687 or [email protected]. Also, mark your calendars – our Committee meets each 4th Friday of the month at 7:30 am.
In the meantime, please fill out our survey (HERE) to help us understand your perceptions of security in the legislature. Thank you!
